What is Psychotherapy?

It’s a therapeutic, professional relationship. A relationship where you can feel safe, listened to and accepted. For many, this is something never experienced before.

Our relationship will be based on empathic understanding. This allows you to safely explore concerns, behaviours and feelings that you may not feel able to discuss with others.

Life can be challenging. Things happen that we don’t plan for or expect and though we may aim for change, sometimes we feel stuck. People often don’t understand us and we can become anxious, fed up or even depressed.

What are you feeling?

Sometimes we fulfil others’ expectations and we end up feeling trapped and resentful. This can result in our relationships suffering, our mood may change along with our appetite, our sleep patterns and the inability to sleep, focus or concentrate.

Sometimes we feel anxious, hopeless or sad and either don't understand the source of these feelings, or have no healthy way to express them.

If any of this sounds familiar, I invite you to get in touch. With my support and understanding, you can start to feel life is brighter.

How can it help?

Psychotherapy can be a great source of relief, comfort and clarity and help us through the tough times.

Often we emerge calmer, more confident, more resilient and more peaceful, because having someone there who understands, listens and does not judge is very powerful and can result in change on a huge scale. I really believe that we all need someone to talk to from time to time.

How I work

I work in an integrative way.  This means that I draw on various therapeutic tools and strategies in order to adapt to you as an individual, although my work is underpinned by the existential approach.  As a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, I also incorporate CBT techniques in my therapy where appropriate. I am a qualified life coach and trained in Thought Pattern Management.

A psychotherapeutic space can help drown out the 'noise' of every day life, enabling you to focus on yourself, where you're going, what you can change and what you cannot.

My qualifications are listed here.

Confidentiality

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work to their ethical framework.  This means that I am governed by confidentiality and data protection guidelines among others. You can be sure that I work in a professional and respectful way and that your identity would never be compromised. *

* within the limits of the framework.

Who I work with

I work with a variety of people aged 18+ online (using Zoom for total online security, privacy and confidentiality).

I work solely online as this allows me to work with people with a greater geographical reach.

Working online is a different concept for those used to a face to face setting, and whilst it does bring some challenges, the therapeutic bond can be just as deep and meaningful online as in a physical room.

In fact there are even unexpected benefits and advantages to working remotely and reports from clients have supported this.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Please note my client list is often very full and I may not be able to accommodate you.
